Post Style Creation & Discussion

Hey guys,

I was wanting to start up a discussion about style creation.  I'm no where near "good" with Photoshop and there is no way I could come up with styles such as Firefly (default style here.)  I was wondering if some good artists would mind sharing their secrets to creating Icy Phoenix styles.  I can create very basic color changes of borders and headers in Photoshop, but taking it to the next level like Firefly is something I cannot do.  I can also create forum icons and buttons.

Tips, tricks, and tutorials would be great!

I use Adobe Fireworks for all my work only use photoshop if I have to...

So dont know a great deal about making graphics using that program.. but  I know of sites that have great tutorials.. maybe borrow some of theirs and then link back to their sites for credits...

I am working on different projects at the moment and just started college so have loads to do...

I've seen a lot of tutorials around the net for creating graphics for Photoshop, but I haven't looked at Adobe Fireworks or anything related before.  I'll definitely check that out.  I hope it isn't expensive because I forked out nearly $400 for Adobe Photoshop a couple of years back when I was in college.  (I got a nice discount for being a college student.)

Costa,

Do you use Adobe Fireworks or Photoshop?  If so, do you use those programs to design graphics for your Icy Phoenix?  Would you mind linking us to your Icy Phoenix website to see how it looks?  I'm just trying to create something totally unique for personal use, not something that I'd release to the Icy Phoenix community.  After all, it isn't unique if someone else is using it, right?

I guess my main problem is lack of imagination.  It doesn't hurt to say that I'm a total n00b when it comes to Photoshop either.

Thanks guys for posting up and hopefully we can all work together in sharing tips.
